BBC Stephen Fry on Wagner (by goatcee)

Watch this now

that is an order

Ja wohl! I’ve only seen parts and pieces of this before—it’s a great documentary on Wagner.

And of course Stephen Fry. <3

This totally sucked me in this morning.  If you are familiar with Wagner and his work, then there is not much new information, but what caught me was getting to see all of the footage of Bayreuth, the Bavarian castle of Ludwig, and the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.  Stephen Fry was eccentric at times, especially in his conversation with Eva Wagner-Pasquier), to a point of discomfort occasionally.  However, one of the most profound aspects was seeing the array of perspectives on how Wagner and his music fit into the fabric of history.

I played six different instruments this semester

Trumpet

Trombone

Horn

Recorder

Violin

and bass of course

Yep, it was  a LOT of instruments to deal with, but I actually loved playing brass.

Still not the biggest fan of the violin, but I’m getting a lot better! I can rock on Minuet 3, and Bill Dick (awesome Suzuki teacher in Austin) offered to teach me lessons over the summer, so that’ll be fun. Maybe I’ll be able to figure out vibrato by August.
